In 1986, he was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His early career was distinguished by his commitment to legal education, becoming a senior lecturer at the University of Ibadan in 1989.

Yemi Akinseye George’s dedication to legal scholarship took him to the Davis Centre at Princeton University in 1997-1998, where he conducted groundbreaking research on corruption and constitutionalism in Africa. In 2003, he embraced a new challenge as Special Adviser to two (2) Ministers of Justice and Attorneys-General of Nigeria, all the while continuing to contribute to legal scholarship. His commitment to the legal profession reached new heights in December 2004 when he was appointed a professor of public law at Adekunle Ajasin University in Ondo State.
