A1 in Politics, F9 in Governance: SDP’s Adebayo Slams Tinubu’s Leadership
Prince Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has launched a pointed attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising his political skills while condemning his record in governance.
In a statement released by his media team, Adebayo compared Tinubu’s performance to scoring an “A1 in politics but an F9 in governance.” According to him, while the president excels at maneuvering within Nigeria’s political class, he has failed to deliver real leadership.
“That’s the issue,” Adebayo said. “Tinubu understands politicians and how to play the game, but he doesn’t seem to understand the needs of everyday Nigerians—basic services, economic stability, and security. If lives can’t be protected in Benue, Plateau, and elsewhere, then his leadership has failed.”

Adebayo stressed that governance—not politics—should have taken precedence once Tinubu assumed office. Instead, he said, the government has shown poor handling of Nigeria’s diversity and economy.
He further accused the president of lacking administrative competence and claimed Tinubu’s economic approach relies more on “economising the truth” than real solutions.
“Our goal in the SDP,” Adebayo continued, “is to shift politics to be fully people-centered. Issues like hunger, education, healthcare, housing—these should be our main concerns, not political drama.”
Adebayo also criticised the wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), calling them calculated moves to weaken resistance ahead of the 2027 elections.
He claimed that many defectors were never committed opposition figures but had simply fallen out of favor within the APC. “True opposition is about principle. Many of these people are just idling at the bus stop, waiting for the next APC ride,” he said.
“These defections are staged to demoralise the opposition,” Adebayo warned. “Until poverty, insecurity, and corruption are dealt with, Nigerians shouldn’t be distracted by this political theatre.”
