Accountant-General Appeals to EFCC to Track Fraudulent Transactions, Secure Budget Funds
The Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has appealed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for support in tackling revenue leakages and financial shortfalls across the country, to help fund Nigeria’s 2025 national budget and ensure the stability of the nation’s financial system.
Ogunjimi made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He emphasized that collaboration between the Office of the Accountant-General (OAGF) and the EFCC is critical to strengthening accountability and financial management in Nigeria.
“The country is facing significant revenue shortages and leakages. To perform our mandate effectively, especially in funding the budget and paying salaries, we need your support to track and block fraudulent transactions,” he said.
He underscored the strategic importance of the EFCC to the OAGF’s work, stressing that only through effective cooperation could financial reforms and budgetary goals be fully achieved.

He added that collaboration between both institutions is essential to unlocking Nigeria’s vast potential and safeguarding national finances from misuse.
