BestSeller: Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth Fund: Legal and Institutional Issues [ORDER NOW]

Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth Fund: Legal and Institutional Issues examines the legal and institutional dimensions to the management of Nigeria’s oil wealth using the sovereign wealth fund (SWF).

It elucidates the argument whether the federal government is vested with the power, under the Constitution, to establish a national SWF.

This book examines and analyses the constitutional and legal constraints of funding Nigeria’s SWF from the Federation Account, and advances constitutional theory by proposing functional legal framework to accommodate and sustain Nigeria’s SWF.

Using three approaches of analysis, namely doctrinal, socio-legal and comparative methods, it argues that for Nigeria’s SWF to engender economic development and the sustainable management of Nigeria’s oil wealth, it is imperative for compromises to be made to allow for certain constitutional amendments. In addition, other legislative measures must be put in place to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), which is vested with the mandate of managing Nigeria’s SWF.

The book deploys plain language, and will be of great interest for law and policy makers, academics, lawyers, researchers and postgraduate students in the discipline of law and other related fields of study, as well as foreign investors that wish to partner with the NSIA.
