Chaos in PDP: Sule Lamido Boycotts PDP NEC Meeting, Demands Wike and Ortom’s Expulsion Over Alleged ‘Anti-Party Activities’
Sule Lamido, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC), has followed through on his threat to boycott party meetings until key figures like FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom are expelled for alleged anti-party activities.
Lamido was notably absent from the PDP’s 99th NEC meeting, held Tuesday at the Legacy House in Abuja. His absence underscored his anger over the continued relevance of Wike, Ortom, and embattled National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu — all of whom, he claims, have worked against the party’s interests.
Although Wike and Anyanwu did not attend the meeting, Ortom was present, donning his Tiv traditional cap and white kaftan, and arrived alongside Bala Mohammed, Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum.

In a media briefing in Abuja, Lamido — a former Minister of Foreign Affairs and member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) — did not hold back. He accused Wike of undermining the party that propelled him into political prominence.
“Wike is a disaster. The PDP made him who he is today, and now he’s trying to destroy it,” Lamido said. “His actions — closing down the PDP secretariat and acting out of personal ambition — are both un-African and unpatriotic.”
Lamido also mocked Wike’s claims of financing the party, comparing it to a son caring for his mother: “Just because you clothe your mother doesn’t mean she must obey your every command.”
He thanked President Bola Tinubu for allegedly ordering the reopening of the PDP secretariat, suggesting Tinubu’s intervention corrected Wike’s overreach.
The ex-Jigawa Governor further slammed Ortom for endorsing Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in 2023 while still retaining a seat on the PDP BoT.
“Ortom openly backed Peter Obi against our party’s candidate. How can he still sit on the BoT and discuss the PDP’s future?” Lamido asked. “I won’t participate in any PDP function while impostors like him remain in leadership.”
He also rejected the legitimacy of Senator Anyanwu as National Secretary, pointing out that he had been disowned by the party’s Zonal Executive Committee.
Reflecting on his past role in party discipline, Lamido recalled expelling late Arthur Nzeribe from the Social Democratic Party during the IBB era.
He lamented what he described as the erosion of discipline in today’s PDP, saying, “Back then, the party was supreme. Now, those openly working against us are being tolerated. It’s shameful.”
Lamido insisted that unless the National Working Committee (NWC) acts to restore order — starting with the expulsion of Wike and Ortom — he will continue to boycott all PDP meetings and events.
