(2) The Reconstitution of the EBF Young Lawyer Forum Executive for the effective coordination of all Young Lawyers in the EBF.
(3) That as far as the 2018 NBA General Elections are concerned, the position of President of the Nigerian Bar Association has been zoned to the EBF and it is incontestably and undeniably the exclusive turn of the East in the EBF to produce the next NBA President.
On the proposed Nigerian Bar Association 2015 Constitution Amendment being handled by the NBA Constitution Review Committee chaired by Mallam Yusuf Olaole Ali, SAN, the EBF resolved as follows:
(1) That the 2015 NBA Constitution cannot be reviewed/amended in an election year, as the present NBA National Executive has less than seven (7) months to the end of its tenure.
(2) That NBA Constitution is legally and constitutionally reviewed/amended at NBA Annual General Meeting and not at NBA NEC as has been contemplated/orchestrated by the NBA National Executive Committee.
(3)That Branches are not comfortable with the proposed Constitution Review/Amendment and the modes outlined for bringing it to fruition as it grossly undermines promotion and respect for rule of law and will be an infraction on the rights of all legal practitioners in Nigeria.
Consequently, the Eastern Bar Forum unequivocally and in totality, reject the proposed NBA Constitutional Amendment.
