Court halts Kano 5% consumption tax

A Federal High Court of Nigeria sitting in Abuja on July 28 issued an order of interim injunction restraining the Kano State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and the state’s internal revenue service, either by themselves, servants or agents, from any step or action enforcing Kano Revenue Administration Law 2017 with particular reference to consumption tax on Kano association of super market operators.
The court order, signed by the court registrar, Binta Muhammad, was obtained based on a suit No: FHC/KN/CS/143/2017 filed on July 27 praying for an order for leave of the court to issue and serve the originating processes and other court processes in the case and also praying for an interim injunction that will restrain Kano State Government from admission of the amended Revenue Administration Law 2017.
