JUSUN to Court of Appeal Workers: “Stay Home Until Further Notice from Exco”
Staff of the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, have been instructed to fully participate in the nationwide strike commencing Monday, June 2, 2025, following directives from the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
In a circular signed by Comrade Binta Rajab, Chairman of JUSUN at the Court of Appeal, workers were told to remain at home until further notice from the union’s executive committee. This directive confirms an earlier national announcement issued on May 30, 2025.
The circular reads, “Strike will hold tomorrow, 2nd June 2025, as earlier stated. We urge you all to stay in your homes until further directive from the JUSUN Exco.”

Addressed to all Court of Appeal staff, the memo highlighted the critical need for unity across all judiciary levels in pushing for better welfare and respect for the judicial arm of government.
“The struggle is for all of us in the judiciary, regardless of court hierarchy—upper or lower,” the union said. “As an arm of government, the judiciary deserves proper treatment.”
JUSUN appealed for maximum cooperation, emphasizing that collective action is essential for achieving their goals. “It is together we can win the struggle. Aluta continua, victoria ascerta.”
The directive bore signatures from the full union executive committee, including Treasurer Mohammed Danjuma, P.R.O. Rahmat Zakari, and Legal Officer Nyior Sekulla.
While other judiciary bodies like the Supreme Court and National Judicial Council have indicated they will not join the strike following intervention by Chief Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, Court of Appeal workers remain resolute in proceeding with the planned industrial action.
