Delivering a ruling on the matter, justice Umar Isah Dodo averred that the affidavit deposed to by Zenith Bank showed clearly that it held enough funds in the account of the defendant to cover the said sum, whereupon he found ‘in the interest of justice to grant the application’ in favour of Makbio Integrated Global Limited.
Reacting to the judgement, Emmanuel Okani, counsel to Makbio Integrated Global Limited described the judgement as justice in action. He commended the Judge for showing extra ordinary courage in the face of oppression by the judgment debtor.
Background
Makbio Integrated Global Limited had supplied IT materials to the National Assembly since 2017 in a contract worth over N55 million Naira. However, despite fulfilling its end of the contract, the National Assembly refused to pay the contractor, leaving them no other choice than to exert the said sum through other mediums.
