Delta Police Bust Ruthless Kidnap Syndicate Operating Across Four States
The Delta State Police Command has dismantled a notorious kidnap syndicate operating across multiple states in southern Nigeria, arresting three suspects believed to be behind a series of abductions.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Warri, the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said the arrests were made on Friday by the CP – Special Assignment Team (CP – SAT) following credible intelligence. The team tracked the suspects to the Elelenwo area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where they apprehended a 21-year-old member of the gang.
During interrogation, the suspect led officers to the residence of the group’s coordinator and leader, also in Port Harcourt. The gang leader is said to oversee various kidnapping syndicates across the South-South and South-East regions, including Delta, Rivers, Imo, and Enugu states.

Further investigations led police to the Oil Mill area in Port Harcourt, where a 38-year-old member was arrested. He is believed to have directed the syndicate’s criminal activities in the Enugu axis.
The suspects later took the police to a hideout in the bush along the Ughelli–Ozoro Road, where officers recovered a cache of weapons. The items included one AK-47 rifle loaded with 23 rounds of live ammunition and a pump-action shotgun with seven live cartridges.
The police said investigations are ongoing, with more arrests possible as efforts continue to dismantle the network entirely.
