‘Do the Right Thing’ — Ezekwesili Demands Akpabio End Saga with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan by Submitting to Independent Probe
Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio to end the ongoing saga involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan by submitting to an independent investigation and doing the right thing.
Ezekwesili also demanded that Akpabio immediately stop abusing public institutions to protect himself from scrutiny, warning that such actions risk further damaging Nigeria’s public institutions.
The call comes amid accusations by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, who alleged that Akpabio sexually harassed her during a visit to his residence in Uyo on December 8, 2023. She claimed that Akpabio made inappropriate advances despite the presence of her husband.

In a post on her social media, Ezekwesili condemned Akpabio for refusing to submit himself to an independent inquiry to clear his name. She criticized him for dragging the Nigerian government into the matter as a tactic to avoid facing consequences.
“For months, the world has watched as you refused to submit yourself to an independent investigation to clear your name of the harassment allegations by Senator Natasha Akpoti,” Ezekwesili wrote.
She denounced the attempts to intimidate and silence Akpoti-Uduaghan instead of granting her a fair hearing. Ezekwesili called on Akpabio to “retake your steps and bring this saga to an end” for the sake of protecting the integrity of Nigeria’s public institutions.
Ezekwesili urged Akpabio to stop abusing public institutions, encourage the withdrawal of the criminal case filed against Akpoti, hold open discussions with Senate colleagues about the issue, and temporarily step aside to allow an independent Senate committee to investigate.
She concluded by warning that “every choice has a consequence” and called on Akpabio to choose wisely.
