“Don’t Hate Us All”: Police PRO Urges Nigerians Not to Condemn Entire Force Over Misconduct of Few Officers
The Nigeria Police Force’s Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has appealed to Nigerians to avoid generalising their disdain for the entire police institution based on the actions of a few rogue officers.
His appeal came after a scathing post on X.com by a user identified as #torty_mercy, who expressed deep anger toward the police, stating, “I hate the Nigerian police! I can’t even say it as it is in my heart! I hate those monsters!”
In response, Adejobi took to his official account on Sunday to urge restraint and perspective. “Don’t condemn the police force,” he wrote. “Don’t hate the Nigeria Police Force and its officers. You can dislike the attitudes or misconduct of a very few ones who rubbish the profession.”

Acknowledging the reality of misconduct within the force, he stressed that those responsible are a small minority. “We agree that we have a few recalcitrant individuals, and these ones are very infinitesimal; and they can still be reformed to be good ambassadors of the force.”
He also highlighted the importance of public involvement in ongoing efforts to improve the system. “We need to collectively work together to reform the police, not to condemn the noble profession,” Adejobi added.
The statement reflects ongoing tensions between the public and law enforcement in Nigeria, as calls for police accountability and institutional reform continue.
