Drama Reloaded: IGP Re-Arraigns VeryDarkMan For Allegedly Cyberbullying Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh, Others

Controversial social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), was re-arraigned on Thursday by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) before Justice Musa Liman of the Federal High Court in Abuja for alleged cyberbullying of several public figures, including actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh.

VDM, who also allegedly targeted music producer Samklef and others, was slammed with a five-count charge under the Cybercrime Act of 2015. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, appealed to the court to allow VDM to continue on the bail granted earlier by Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon, who originally presided over the case before being transferred to another court division. The prosecution did not object, and Justice Liman upheld the previous bail conditions. The trial was adjourned to July 24.

VDM had initially been arraigned on May 22, 2024, and was granted ₦10 million bail with strict conditions, including sureties who must be senior federal civil servants or employees of reputable companies.

The charges, filed on March 28, accuse him of posting offensive, false, and harassing content via his Instagram account. In one count, he allegedly posted a video on October 13, 2023, containing threatening words aimed at Samklef. Another charge accuses him of publishing obscene and offensive claims on October 29, 2023, about Iyabo Ojo, alleging inappropriate behavior involving her daughter.

On January 19, 2024, VDM reportedly published false claims about Tonto Dikeh, accusing her of misusing funds raised for the late singer Mohbad and alleging she runs the controversial gossip blog, Gistlover.

He was also accused of posting insulting content about senior police officials and members of the National Assembly on March 19, 2024.
