Eastern Bar Forum (EBF) Condemns Attack On Uduak Adams Akpan, Lawyer Based In Lagos State
The Eastern Bar Forum (EBF), strongly condemns the recent unwarranted attack on the person of Miss Uduak Adams Akpan, a lawyer based in Lagos state who was falsely accused of kidnapping the son of a woman in the area where she went to look for accommodation and was almost lynched to death by an irate mob supported by the OPC (Odua People’s Congress).
The Eastern Bar Forum, the body of lawyers of the old eastern region extraction, believes in upholding justice, fairness, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights. We are deeply concerned about the incident involving Ms. Adams, which highlights the dangers of mob violence and the need for a fair and impartial justice system.
It is essential that law enforcement agencies thoroughly investigate this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. No individual should be subjected to such violence and harassment based merely on false accusations. We call upon the relevant authorities to ensure a swift and thorough investigation into this matter.
Mob violence of any kind undermines the rule of law and poses a significant threat to society. It is crucial for communities to foster an environment that promotes understanding, tolerance, and respect for due process. The actions of the mob in this case are not only illegal but also perpetuate a culture of fear and injustice.

We urge civil society organizations, human rights activists, and community leaders to speak out against such acts of violence and support efforts to promote peace, justice, and equality. It is through collective action that we can create a society where everyone feels safe and protected.
The Eastern Bar Forum stands in solidarity with Uduak Adams and all individuals who have been victims of mob violence or false accusations. We reiterate our commitment to promoting due process and the rule of law.
