It declared the actions of the police as unconstitutional and unlawful, particularly condemning the practice of preventing lawyers and the public from entering police facilities with their mobile phones.
In addition to the monetary award, which includes general, exemplary, and punitive damages, the court ordered the Nigerian Police to issue a public apology to Mr. Isong, to be published in two national newspapers circulating within Anambra State.
The Legal team that represented Idemili Branch in this matter was led by Chief G. C. Igbokwe SAN, Chief C.J. S. Azoro, Prof. B. E. Ewulum, V. C. Agbo and other lawyers from the Branch. The Respondents were notably absent and unrepresented in court.
