Ezenwa Anumnu files 3 additional cases against NBA, takes number of court cases against NBA to 18
The embattled factional chairman of Abuja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA, Mr Ezenwa Anumnu has filed three additional court cases against NBA taking his court cases tally against the Lawyers professional association to 18 court cases.
Mr Ezenwa who was declared Chairman of Abuja Branch of the association after a controversial election at the branch that disqualified him, by the National Executive Committee of the Association NEC at Benin under the past administration of Mr Austin Alegeh SAN, was removed from office on February when the NEC reversed itself at Aba and ordered new election into the Branch executive committee.
Mr Ezenwa filed numerous court cases challenging his removal from office and an Abuja High court presided over by Justice Kekemeke in June granted an injunction stopping NBA from conducting election into the offices of the Chairman and Secretary of the branch until the substantive suits against NBA is resolved.
At the Association’s Annual General meeting recently held in Lagos, the president of the Association, Mr AB Mahmoud SAN, informed members of the association that Mr Anumnu has filed 15 court cases against the association. At the association’s NEC meeting recently held in Uyo Akwa Ibom State, the General Secretary of the association, Mr Abiola Isiaka Olagunju informed the members of NEC that Mr Anumnu has filed 3 additional cases against NBA taking his tally to 18.

In a report made available to barristerNG.com, the General Secretary informed the NEC members at Uyo that although the High Court FCT, Apo Division presided by Hon. Justice Kekemeke granted an order of injunction to restrain the NBA from conducting fresh elections into the offices of chairman and secretary respectively of the Abuja Branch, the court did not grant the prayer of Ezenwa Anumnu to recognize him as the Chairman of Abuja Branch of the NBA.
According to the GS, NBA has filed a Notice of Appeal against the court injunction as well as a Motion for Injunction to restrain Ezenwa Anumnu from parading himself as the chairman of the NBA Abuja Branch.
In addition, the GS informed the NEC that consequent upon Section 8(5) III of the Association’s 2015 constitution which empowers the President to co-ordinate the affairs of branches, two members of the Abuja Branch, Princess Frank -Chukwuani and Noah Ajare has been appointed the Acting Chairman and Secretary respectively of NBA Abuja branch and are the only recognized representatives of the branch.
