Federal High Court Orders Service of Hearing Notice to APC in ₦10 Million Nomination Fee Refund Case
The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has directed that a hearing notice be officially served on the All Progressives Congress (APC) after no representative appeared for the party in a suit over the refund of a nomination fee.
The case, filed by former APC Deputy National Chairman (North) aspirant Sunny Moniedafe under suit number FCT/HC/CV/2434/2024, demands the refund of ₦10 million paid for a nomination form in 2022.
Moniedafe explained that he bought the nomination form to contest the Deputy National Chairman (North) position ahead of the APC National Convention held on March 26, 2022. However, party leadership, led by then-President Muhammadu Buhari, encouraged aspirants to step down because the position was agreed to go to a candidate from Borno State in the North-East zone.

According to Moniedafe, the leadership had reached a consensus and instructed aspirants who complied to receive refunds. But despite repeated demands since March 2022, APC has neither refunded the ₦10 million nor responded.
At Monday’s resumed court sitting, only Moniedafe and his lawyer, Okoi Obono-Obla, appeared. No one represented APC. Justice Yusuf Halilu ordered the court registrar to ensure APC is served the hearing notice and granted the party’s application for an extension of time.
The case was adjourned to July 15, 2025, when the court will verify whether APC has been served properly before proceeding further.
