“Forgery, Abuse, and Cover-Up”: Sowore Accuses Wike’s CSO of Illegally Detaining FCDA Staff Over Alleged Leaked Documents Exposing Land Allocations to Minister’s Sons
Activist and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, has accused the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of illegally detaining an employee of the Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA) over a leaked land allocation scandal involving Wike’s underage sons.
In a post shared on X, Sowore revealed that Mairiga Hassan Shaharu, who works in the department responsible for processing new land applications, was arrested last Friday at the FCDA Police Post. He was accused of leaking internal documents exposing how vast portions of Abuja land were allegedly allocated to Wike’s two sons—a scandal initially reported by Gazette Nigeria.
However, Sowore pointed out that Mairiga does not even have access to the Land Department’s internal systems and therefore could not have leaked any documents.

During a visit to the police post alongside human rights lawyers Rosemary Hamza and AK Musa, Sowore discovered disturbing irregularities. The lawyers found that Mairiga’s detention was backed by a forged court order, supposedly issued by a magistrate who no longer holds jurisdiction.
Police at the station were reportedly evasive, with one senior officer claiming she had no power to release Mairiga, labeling him Wike’s “personal detainee.” The CSO later claimed the case had been handed over to FCT Police Commissioner CP Wale Ajao, who defended the detention without realizing the court order had already been identified as fake.
In a surprising twist, Wike’s CSO allegedly invited Sowore to a meeting with the minister and Mairiga. Sowore declined, stating, “Wike can’t summon me, and I won’t visit him.”
He concluded with a pointed question:
“If Wike never allocated land to his children, why is someone being detained over documents that supposedly don’t exist?”
The activist and his legal team have launched a campaign under the hashtag #FreeMairigaNow, demanding Mairiga’s immediate release and calling for an investigation into Wike’s alleged misconduct.
