Governor Mutfwang Challenges APC Chairman Yilwatda to Prove Corruption Claims, Says EFCC Summons Only Concern Past Administration
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has challenged the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, to provide proof for his recent allegations of corruption against the state government.
Nentawe had claimed that the Plateau administration was among the worst in terms of corruption, asserting that government officials, relatives, and friends of the governor were regular visitors to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Responding through his Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Istifanus Mwansat, Governor Mutfwang urged the APC chairman to present concrete evidence to support his claims.

While acknowledging that some government officials had been invited to the EFCC, Mutfwang explained that the visits were related to financial matters of the previous administration, not his government.
He detailed the EFCC invitations, stating that the Accountant General was called to clarify expenditures from 2017 to 2022, the Plateau State Basic Education Board to explain tech fund projects from 2015 to 2022, and officials from the Ministry of Agriculture regarding unaccounted tractors. The General Manager of the Tourism Corporation was also invited concerning a 2022 debt.
“None of these investigations involve activities beyond 2022. All matters are linked to the previous administration,” the statement said.
Regarding the claim about the governor’s relatives and friends, Mutfwang insisted that no such individuals have been summoned by the EFCC. He also clarified that some state assembly members were called over official vehicles they received while in office, which were legal at the time, and EFCC procedures require them to account for or return the assets once their tenure ends.
Mutfwang concluded that once investigations are complete, only those directly implicated will face consequences, reinforcing that current EFCC engagements are focused solely on past government activities.
