How Justice Garba abandoned 7 years old Pending Case before him to accept NJI appointment – Activist, Agams, Slams Ex-Chief Judge
Abuja Based Human Right Activist, Mercel Dim-Udebuani Esq, poluarly known as Agams, has slammed the immediate past Chief Judge of Federal Capital Territory, Justice Garba Salisu for abandoning an seven years case pending before him to accept a new appointment af the Director at the National Judicial Institute NJI.
Agams decried the situation that will see the seven years old pending case start afresh as it will be transfered to a new judge.
Reacting to Justice Salisu appointment at the NJI, Agams described it as “Nepotism of the highest order. The appointment was made last Month (July 2021)by his brother Buhari to enable him occupy a seat that is Constitutionally reserved for a retired Chief Judge.”
“The issue we need to interrogate is whether the appointment made by Mr. President while Hon. Justice S. Garba was still sitting as a serving Judge in FCT is unconstitutional and illegal?”
“I told him on the 22nd July 2021 when I appeared before him that Almighty God will bless each and every one of us according to our own deeds, because I know that he will not come back after vacation to complete our case that has been in his court for 7 years.” … the activist stated in a reaction sent to BarristerNG.com.
“The case in issue is a suit No. FCT/HC/CV/546/2014 between Mr.Victor Nsoro &Aor. Vs. Mr. Okey Nwaubani& 5ors assigned to His Lordship Hon. Justice S. Garba in 2014. Sadly there was no interlocutory appeal throughout the seven( 7) years of trial.” … he lamented.
Agams decried the role of Lawyers and Judges in the society and condemned them for being the real problems;
“Honestly I have come to an irreversible conclusion that Lawyers and Judges are the real problems of this Country and until we change our ways, Nigeria will continue to hover around Bermuda triangle and it is only the exceptional few called citizens that will save her and not idiots or tribesmen according to the ancient Greeks.”… He Stated.
“It is not too late for us to join the exceptional few because it is indeed unfortunate that we Nigerians are highly interested in position and title neglecting the core essence of our being in this ephemeral world of nothingness.”
