JAMB Probes 2025 UTME Top Scorer Chinedu Okeke Over Suspected Exam Fraud, Dual Admission Records
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has raised concerns over possible foul play in the results of Chinedu Okeke, the top-performing candidate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, made the disclosure on Tuesday during the Board’s 2025 policy meeting held in Abuja.
According to Oloyede, Okeke, an indigene of Anambra State, emerged as the best-performing candidate in the 2025 UTME with a score of 375. He applied to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos.

However, the JAMB Registrar noted that the Board discovered some discrepancies in Okeke’s records. Data from JAMB indicated that he had previously gained admission to study Medicine at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), in the past year.
Oloyede explained that JAMB contacted UNN to verify the information, and the institution confirmed that Okeke is indeed a registered student there and is progressing well in his studies.
Commenting on the development, JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, stated that the Board suspects possible foul play.
“The law does not allow a student to matriculate twice, and as an undergraduate, he has an advantage over the other candidates in the examinations,” Benjamin said.
He further pointed out inconsistencies in Okeke’s personal data, noting, “In his records, he claimed he is from the South-East while the other record is reading that he is from Lagos State. We are suspecting that he is a mercenary in the examination.”
Meanwhile, the Board also announced other top scorers in the 2025 UTME. John Ayuba from Gombe State secured the second position with a score of 374, while Olayinka Jimoh from Kwara State came third with 373.
Others who scored 373 include Ayibo Roberts from Rivers State, Chibueze Omonugbo from Enugu State, Tunmise Olawepo from Kwara State, and Leslie Afinotan from Delta State.
Additional high scorers with 372 points are Chukwuemeka Azoyenime from Delta State, Emmanuel Oyebode from Ogun State, and Cecil Omigie from Edo State.
