The Managing Director
Niger Delta Development Commission
167, Aba Road
Port Harcourt
Rivers State

Dear Sir

I refer to the several correspondences in respect of the above subject matter particularly your correspondence of January 10, 2022 where you provided me with the details of the above contract pursuant to the order of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, Rivers State that was made pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act 2011 and write as contained below.

It will be recalled that after the above details was received by me, I proceeded to forward letters to both the presidency and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in respect of the misappropriation and total abandonment of the project by the contractor wherein the contractor was requested to return to site. But unfortunately, the contractor, Messrs Inter-Bau Construction Nigeria Limited proceeded to use a sub-contractor who continues to conceal his identity and has been doing a very poor job. I have attached photographs showing the poor job that is presently been done on the road. Even the earth moving machines deployed by them are obsolete and rickety.

Abala-Uno and the other towns and villages within the corridor are agrarian and they need this road to transport their produce to markets in major towns and cities so they can earn a living and cater for their families. The importance of this road cannot be over emphasized and I am aware that poverty eradication, food security and job creation forms part of the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. There is no doubt therefore that completing this road project and ensuring that it is done in line with best construction standards will further drive the renewed hope agenda of Mr. President.

It is my humble prayer therefore that you urgently intervene in this road project and ensure that international best practices is adopted in the road construction and that it is completed within the shortest possible time particularly considering that this project has remained uncompleted since 2012 and there is nothing to show for the huge resources that has been committed to it.

Lastly, I congratulate you on your appointment as the Managing Director of the NDDC and I wish you success as you man the saddles of this great institution that was set up to drive the growth and development of our region.

Please accept the assurances of my highest regards as I look forward to your prompt and positive response.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully

Anthony Iyasele LL.B, BL, LL.M, AICMC
