Madonna University Expels Nursing Students Over Viral ‘Offensive’ Hospital Video
Madonna University Nigeria has expelled some nursing students over a viral video recorded at a hospital, prompting the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to appeal to the university management to reconsider the punishment.
The students were reportedly subjected to disciplinary action after a video they recorded in the hospital surfaced online and attracted widespread attention.
The video carried the caption, “No sick oo, nah Gen Z full hospital,” which sparked criticism over the students’ conduct in a sensitive healthcare environment.

NANS acknowledged that the students’ actions were inappropriate and amounted to misconduct but appealed to the university to replace the expulsion with a stern warning and other corrective measures.
The students are nursing undergraduates whose academic training includes clinical postings and hospital-based learning. NANS argued that permanently expelling them could have a significant impact on their education and future careers.
In its appeal, the students’ body urged Madonna University to show clemency and allow the affected students to continue their studies under strict disciplinary conditions.
NANS suggested that the students could be required to sign undertakings promising not to repeat such conduct, with further disciplinary action imposed if they violate the conditions.
The association said the punishment should focus on correcting the students’ behaviour rather than permanently disrupting their academic careers.
The appeal comes amid growing concerns over students’ conduct on social media, particularly the recording and publication of videos from sensitive environments such as hospitals.
Madonna University has yet to publicly announce whether it will review the expulsions or accept NANS’ appeal.
