Minister to Politicians: Inciting Chaos Will Face Full Force of the Law
Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has issued a stern warning to politicians attempting to incite violence against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His comments followed a controversial statement from former transportation minister, Rotimi Amaechi, who suggested that politicians must “steal, maim, and kill” to retain power.
Matawalle condemned these reckless remarks, emphasizing that such inflammatory language would not be tolerated. He stressed that the government is committed to safeguarding peace and stability across Nigeria, warning that security agencies are closely monitoring any attempts to disrupt public order.
Speaking through the Ministry of Defence’s Director of Information, Henshaw Ogubike, Matawalle stated that Amaechi’s comments were not only an insult to the intelligence of Nigerians but also posed a dangerous threat to national security by inciting violence among the youth.

He called on political leaders to respect Nigeria’s sovereignty and the rule of law, underscoring that power must be earned through democracy, not through force or lawlessness. The Minister further assured Nigerians that the government would take firm action against anyone found attempting to destabilize the nation.
Matawalle also reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of President Tinubu’s administration to national unity and security, expressing confidence in a peaceful and successful 2027 election. He urged the public to disregard Amaechi’s statements as irrelevant and out of touch with the current political and social climate.
