NBA Ahoada Branch visits Rivers State Chief Judge, lauds his Numerous achievements
The Ahoada branch of Nigerian Bar Association, (the Family bar) on Friday, 9th February, 2024 paid a courtesy visit on the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzo Amadi.
The visit was led by the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ahoada Branch, Hilda Desmond-Ihekaire, Ph.D. accompanied by the Executive Committee and and elders of the branch. She commended the Chief Judge for the various innovations he brought into justice delivery since he assumed duty as the Chief Judge of Rivers State. She stated that Ahoada bar has passed a vote of confidence on him based on his various achievements which includes, ensuring the take off of the multi door court house, the family court, small claims court, revising the High Court Civil Procedure of Rivers State to take cognizance of the innovations of the evidence Act, 2011, issuing various practice directions that have enhanced the efficiency of administration of justice and the ongoing amendment of the Magistrates court rules amongst others.
She especially thanked the Honourable Chief Judge for his foresight in establishing the Multi Door Court House and the various Practice Direction intended for speedy resolution civil and criminal trials in Rivers State.

Dr. Hilda Desmond-Ihekaire made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Honourable Chief Judge of Rivers State by Executive members and Elders of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ahoada Branch on 9th February, 2024,
Dr Hilda Desmond-Ihekaire Ahoada Branch Chairman in her speech called on the Honourable Chief Judge to come to the aid of the Ahoada Division as the courts in the Division are largely in dire need of repairs, electricity and furniture and infrastructual repairs.
She further reinterated the need for the Honourable Chief Judge to include the members of the Ahoada Branch in the Committees created by his office as the Ahoada Branch is graced with capable members to serve in such committees.
In his response, the Honourable Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi thanked and welcomed the Branch.
Dignitaries present includes, The Hon. Justice Slyvester Popnen, The Chief Registar Rivers State Judiciary, His Worship Director David-Ihua Maduenyi, the Secretary Judicial Service Commission Victor Ugorji Esq. Elder V. N Ihua Maduenyi,Chairman Building Commitee of the branch, Former Vice Chairman of the branch, Harvey Ideozu, Rogers Agbesor Esq. former Chairman of the branch, Hon. Eric Apic and Hon. Asita O. Honourable amongst others.
The Chief judge stated that the issues regarding maintenance of the courts in the Division is paramount and will be taken care of immediately the capital allocations for the Rivers State Judiciary is improved.
However, the Hon. Chief Judge regrets the difficult condition with which the courts conduct their daily cause list.
The Hon. Chief Judge charged the Chief Registrar of the Rivers State Judiciary, D. D. Ihua-Maduenyi, Esq., to access some of the furniture needs of the courts and cause a deployment of furnitures to the courts as the resources could go.
On his part, Victor VN. Ihua-Maduenyi, Esq one of the elders of the branch, commended the Chief Judge for listening to the Branch and his promises to take immediate steps to alter the structural deficit in the Division.
Others present at the courtesy visit were Romeo Need, Esq, Secretary, Priscilla Ewoh, Priscilla Ewoh, Boomi George, Publicity Secretary and Blessing Oduley, Welfare Secretary.

The meeting came to a close after the Nigerian Bar Association, Ahoada Branch Chairman presented two books gifted the Hon. Chief Judge on behalf of the Branch.
