NBA BWARI CRISIS: Olagunju Disqualifies Peters; Orders Electoral Committee to effect Same

The electoral crisis rocking the NBA Bwari Branch popularly known as Capital Bar took another turn on Friday the 19th of May 2017 when the General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Isiaka Abiola Olagunju disqualified one of the two candidate cleared by the Branch Electoral Committee for the Office of the Branch Chairman, Mr I.O Peters.
In a letter addressed to Ephraim Otti Esq, the Chairman of the Bwari Branch Electoral Committee, Mr Olagunju disqualified Mr Peters for being in breach of the Uniform Bye Law of the Association by paying the Annual branch dues late and ordered the Electoral Committee to effect the disqualification.

Recall that the Branch Electoral Committee had earlier cleared Mr I.O Peters and Mr Mohammed Tsav to vie for the office of the Chairman of the Branch in an election slated for June 3 2017. But some members of the Branch had written to the NBA General Secretary to disqualify both candidates for being in Breach of the Uniform Bye Law of The Association.
A member of the Branch who spoke to BarristerNG on the condition of anonymity said that the Branch Electoral Committee admitted to clearing both candidates notwithstanding their breach of the Bye Law of the Association as it will guarantee peace at the Branch.
Reacting to Mr Peters disqualification, Mr Felix Ashimole, a member of the Branch stated that Mr M.I Tsav will now be sworn unopposed on June 3 2017 as he is the only remaining qualified candidate.
