In a letter informing Ogunleye of his choice as the inaugural Lead Speaker for the round-table, the Executive Director of SERAP, Mr. Adetokunbo Mumuni said it was informed by the bar leader’s “strong leadership in the fight against corruption in our country.” Ogunleye is perhaps the only person to be elected unopposed as chairman in the history of NBA Lagos Branch, fondly called the “Premier Bar.”

Scheduled to hold tomorrow 9 o’clock at Best Westown Hotels, near Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos the event aims to bring together senior legal experts and representatives from NBA, judiciary, government and anti-graft agencies “to assess the on-going fight against corruption, and to mobilize a broader cross-section of Nigerian society to  demand an end to impunity and anti-corruption reforms.”

The roundtable will also “formulate recommendations for mobilizing mass support for reform,” and will attract public opinion leaders, women’s groups and civil society activists.

SERAP is a human rights non-governmental organization whose mandates include the promotion and advancement of the socio-economic rights of Nigerians as well as the promotion of transparency and accountability in public and private sectors through human rights.

On the recommendation of the UK’s DFID, SERAP was nominated for the United Nations “Civil Society Award” in 2008. It was again nominated in 2011 for the Ford Foundation “Jubilee Transparency Award.” SERAP is a recipient of the Wole Soyinka “Anti-Corruption Defender Award” for 2014. It is a key member of the UNCAC Coalition, a global anti-corruption network of over 310 civil society organizations (CSOs) spread across more than 100 countries.
