NDLEA Busts Smugglers: Cocaine Found Hidden in Lipsticks, Land Documents Bound for UK, Saudi Arabia
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted multiple drug shipments cleverly concealed in ordinary items such as lipsticks and a property title document, exposing an elaborate smuggling network aimed at transporting narcotics to the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
In a statement on Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi revealed that 420 grams of cocaine were hidden inside 84 lipstick tubes bound for the UK, while another 280 grams were found tucked into a Certificate of Occupancy heading to Saudi Arabia. The seizures were made by operatives at a logistics firm in Lagos.
In another high-profile arrest, the agency apprehended a notorious drug baron, Ajetsibo Emami, alias ‘Warri Kinsman’, following a three-day operation in Ikeja. The raid led to the seizure of 681 pouches of Canadian Loud (a high-grade strain of cannabis) weighing 414.2kg. Three of Emami’s associates were also taken into custody.

A separate bust uncovered a shocking family-run drug cartel in Lagos. Businessman Ajah Johnson and his wife Rosemary were first arrested by the Department of State Services with 277.5kg of cannabis (skunk). A follow-up NDLEA raid on their residence revealed an additional 231kg, leading to the arrest of their daughters, Stella and Ngozi, along with a family friend, Okoro Elijah.
At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, NDLEA operatives caught a frequent flyer, Aburemi Hysent, with 7,660 tramadol pills hidden in food items. The suspect, en route to Italy, admitted he was promised €800 for the delivery.
Also at the Lagos airport, officers intercepted 52 counterfeit Australian traveller’s cheques worth AUD 17.7 million concealed in children’s books. Freight agent Bolarinwa Saheed, linked to the shipment to Malaysia, was arrested and handed over to the EFCC.
