Nigerian Law Society Disowns Unauthorized 2025 Law Journal, Declares It Was Published Without Approval
The National Executive Council of the Nigerian Law Society (NLS) has formally distanced the organization from a publication titled “Nigerian Law Society (NLS) Law Journal Maiden Edition 2025,” stating it was released without its knowledge or approval.
In a notice of disclaimer issued on Monday, the NLS made it clear that it neither operates an official journal nor authorized any individual or group to publish such a document on its behalf.
“It has come to the notice of the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Law Society that a journal titled ‘Nigerian Law Society (NLS) Law Journal Maiden Edition 2025’ has been purportedly published for and on behalf of the Society,” the notice stated. “The Nigerian Law Society hereby dissociates itself from the said publication as it was published without authorization.”

The Society emphasized that it does not currently publish or endorse any journal. It urged the public, including individuals and corporate bodies, to disregard the publication and avoid associating it with the NLS.
The Council further indicated that it would take appropriate measures to identify those behind the unauthorized release and address the matter accordingly.
