NSA Ribadu: 13,543 Terrorists Killed, 124,408 Boko Haram Members Surrendered Since Tinubu’s Inauguration
National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu announced that since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office in May 2023, Nigerian forces have neutralised over 13,543 terrorists and criminals nationwide.
Speaking on Thursday at the APC National Policy and Development Summit in Abuja, Ribadu highlighted the significant progress made by the military and intelligence agencies in combating terrorism and improving internal security.
“Our troops have successfully neutralised 13,543 terrorists and destroyed more than 252,000 rounds of ammunition,” Ribadu stated before an audience of government officials and party leaders.

He further revealed that about 124,408 members of Boko Haram and its splinter group ISWAP, along with their families, have surrendered to security forces and are currently benefiting from the federal government’s de-radicalisation and reintegration programs.
Ribadu attributed these achievements to enhanced cooperation among security agencies, improved intelligence gathering, and strong political commitment from the Tinubu administration.
This announcement comes amid ongoing security challenges, including the Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, kidnappings, and separatist violence across different regions of Nigeria. The insurgency, which began in 2009, has caused over 350,000 deaths and displaced millions, yet the security forces continue to face attacks in several states.
Despite recent security gains, a rise in violent incidents in parts of the country has raised concerns about the sustainability of these improvements.
