The Inter-Party Advisory Committee  in Ogun State has advised the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate in the state, Oladipupo Adebutu to seek redress in court over their  defeat in last Saturday’s election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had on Sunday declared Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress, the winner of the election having  polled a total of 276,298 votes, while Adebutu polled 262,383 and the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Biyi Otegbeye, got 94,754 votes.

While rejecting the results, Adebutu led some members of the PDP in a protest to INEC office in Abeokuta  to submit a petition against the commission.

IPAC boss, however, charged Adebutu and the PDP to approach the court instead of making unfounded allegations against the electoral commission.

Okusanya, who was flanked by the state chairmen, governorship and deputy governorship candidates of 10  other political parties passed a vote of confidence on the outcome of the election.

He said, “In elections like this, one candidate will emerge as the winner and anyone that lost out should follow due process which is recognised by law to express their grievances if there is any at all, instead of creating unrest in the state.

“We advise them (Adebutu and PDP), as inter-party advisory council to shun violence. They should also remember that nobody in above the law.

“We want peace and progress of the state. The losers should follow due process and tow the line of honour to express their grievances and concerns.

“All the registered political parties that are here with their governorship candidates hereby accept the outcome of the governorship and House of Assembly election as announced by INEC.”

Some of the parties at the press briefing include; People’s Redemption Party, National Rescue Movement, Action Democratic Party, All Peoples Party and the Labour Party .
