Olasupo Ojo Denies Ever Criticizing AB Mahmoud SAN and Abiola Olagunju

As the constitutional crisis occasioned by the Hon. Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court Judgement annulling the 2009 and 2015 constitutions of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, continues to rage within the Association, The Lawyer that sued NBA in the matter, Mr Olasupo Ojo has denied ever criticizing the current leadership of the Association led by AB Mahmoud SAN and Isiaka Olagunju Esq as President and Secretary respectively.
A story published by the blog www.Thenigerialawyer.com on 9th April 2017 with the heading “Revealed: How AB Mahmoud SAN Runs Our NBA Says Olasupo Ojo” had claimed that in a statement made available to the blog, Mr Ojo had criticized the NBA President for “concessioning the Association to cronies, friends and relations”. The story also claimed that Mr Murtala Abdul-Rasheed has assumed the position of “the unofficial President of the Bar” and lebelled the General Secretary of NBA as ” inexperienced”. The story further made accusations against reputable members of the Association such as Dr. Garba Tetengi SAN, Lady Debbie Obodoukwu and Mrs Boma Ozobia.

But responding to an inquiry by BarristerNG, Mr Olasupo Ojo categorically denied ever issuing any statement to anyone orally or otherwise on how the Association is being run. Mr Ojo said;
Olasupo Ojo Vs NBA: My attention has been drawn to a statement credited to me about how ABM runs the NBA. I categorically deny issuing or making such statement in writing or orally to anyone anywhere anytime. I have contacted the person who posted the said statement to remove my name and state the name of the author and clarify the mix up. I have been assured that the said statement have been removed from the website as requested. Every lawyer have their freedom of expression and i can’t object to the expression by the real àuthor. However. I issue statements consistent with my conviction. I don’t issue statement against persons. I address germane issues that will further our collective interest in the NBA. There are very deep and fundamental issues crying to be addressed not the style of governance by ABM or the GS. They are not subject of my agitation for the rule of law in NBA affairs. The issues predate them hence I needn’t contend with them unless they chose to contend with me. The NBA will judge them according to their standard. I can’t judge them. NBA is greater and more important than us all. Thanks. I remain yours, OLASUPO OJO. 9/4/2017. I won’t follow them into the gutter. Thanks. I appreciate for the benefit of doubt expressed.
*Thenigerialawyer.com deletes Story from website. Issues Public Apology
In a twist, the blog Thenigerialawyer.com has this morning deleted the story story from its website and issued a public apology to all those mentioned in the story. The blog credited the story to “an unknown person”.
In an apolology published on its website tittled “Apologies To NBA President, Isiaka Olagunju And Others On The Story “How AB Mahmoud Runs NBA”, the blog stated thus
Thenigerialawyer sincerely apologise to the people mentioned on the story “How AB Mahmoud Runs NBA”. Story was sent to use by an unknown person. We are making effort to unmask the sender of the story. Mr Ojo Supo whom the story was accredited to was not the author.
