Ondo Police Deny Knowledge of Ransom Talks in APC Chieftain’s Abduction Case
The Ondo State Police Command says it is unaware of any ransom negotiations related to the abduction of Mr. Nelson Adepoyigi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairman of Ward 5 in Ose Local Government Area.
Adepoyigi was kidnapped on Monday evening near the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo Road. Reports from Journalists indicate that while family members had been negotiating with the kidnappers, the police say they have no knowledge of such dealings.
Police spokesperson DSP Olushola Ayanlade said on Thursday, “I don’t have any update about anyone being kidnapped while delivering ransom, and I’m not aware of any ransom negotiations. Our men are still combing the bushes in search of the victim.”

However, a family source revealed that the abductors had initially demanded ₦100 million but later reduced it to ₦5 million and food items. Two volunteers, Bayode Loco and Isimeri, were reportedly sent to deliver the ransom but were subsequently seized by the kidnappers, who are now demanding an additional ₦30 million for their release.
“Bayode and Isimeri took the ransom as agreed, but they are now being held hostage too,” the source said.
Mr. Kolapo Ojo, Chairman of Ose Local Government, confirmed the earlier negotiations and the reduced ransom but expressed concern over the unexpected turn of events. He urged the community to remain calm as security operations continue.
