PDP Stands Firm: NEC Meeting to Hold June 30 Despite Cancellation Rumors — Insists Anyanwu Not Reinstated, Says No One Can Override NEC Decisions
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting will go ahead as scheduled on Monday, June 30, 2025, brushing aside widespread reports of its cancellation or postponement.
In a statement released on Wednesday and endorsed by top members of the NWC, the party also rejected rumors suggesting that Senator Samuel Anyanwu had been reinstated as the party’s National Secretary. According to the NWC, these claims are “misleading” and do not reflect the true position of the party.
The committee further clarified that any such announcements allegedly made by Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, hold no weight and contradict the decision taken at the PDP’s 99th NEC meeting. That meeting, the NWC noted, had agreed that all matters concerning the office of the National Secretary would be addressed during the upcoming 100th NEC meeting.

The statement emphasized that the meeting on June 30 will proceed at the PDP’s national headquarters as planned and called on all members and stakeholders to ignore any contrary information.
