Remove Me As FCT Minister If I Fail To Deliver Abuja, Rivers in 2027 – Wike Tells Tinubu
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that he will resign as a minister if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election in Abuja and Rivers State.
Wike stated this on Wednesday during an engagement with the leadership and members of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja.

The former Rivers State governor said political appointees should be prepared to accept responsibility for the electoral performance of their areas of influence.
“If I cannot deliver where I work, I am not worthy to be here. It means that whatever I am doing here, the people don’t think I am doing the right thing,” Wike said.
He added that he would consider himself unfit to remain FCT minister if he failed to secure electoral victory for Tinubu in the territory.
“If I lose FCT, I’m not supposed to be FCT Minister. By January 17, 2027, I will announce my resignation as FCT Minister should the President lose in Rivers State and the FCT,” he added.
“And if I lose here, I should not be in that position. I tell people that I am a practical person. If I lose FCT, I am not supposed to be in FCT administration,” he said.
Wike also extended the same standard to Rivers State, where he served as governor for eight years, saying he could not continue to publicly support Tinubu while failing to deliver electoral support in his home state.
“And if I go back to my state and the president cannot win, what am I shouting about the president, the president, when I cannot win?” he asked.
