Simon Ekpa Sends Message to Igbos Staying in Lagos

The self-acclaimed factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa, has slammed those asking him to come to Nigeria rather than stay in Finland and talk about things happening in the country.

Ekpa, who was arrested and questioned by the Finnish police in February 2023 over alleged plans to impose a ‘sit at home’ during the just concluded elections, said Igbos who live in Lagos should not tell him to return to Nigeria.

According to Ekpa, staying in Lagos and challenging him to return home is the definition of confusion adding that he is more at home than those in Lagos State.

He said: “Staying in Lagos as a Biafran and challenging me to come home is the definition of confusion. I am more at home than you. You that is in Lagos can’t even visit your village.”

Meanwhile, the Finnish police have revealed why Simon Ekpa was arrested and released.

According to Premium Times, an official statement released by the Finnish embassy in Nigeria revealed that Ekpa was arrested as part of an investigation by Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation into a suspected money collection offence.

The statement reads, “The National Bureau of Investigation has started a criminal investigation into a suspected money collection offence committed by a man living in Lahti. The suspect was apprehended in Lahti yesterday on 23 February.”
