Solomon Dalung joins race for house of reps, to obtain SDP nomination form today

Solomon Dalung, former minister of youth and sports, has declared his intention to contest a seat in the house of representatives.

Dalung, who disclosed his parliamentary bid in a statement issued on Thursday, is seeking to represent Langtang north & south federal constituency.

“I am mindful of all tricks deployed by opponents of liberation to either spy on our capacity or employ cheap blackmail to demobilize our resilience. Let me concede that we don’t have the money to play around but our capacity to wrestle this mandate for the people is beyond the imagination of any political force,” the statement reads.
“We cannot fall cheap to the antics of money bags politicians with their paymasters who betrayed our people’s right to development at the expense of crumbs or peanuts. I am going to prosecute campaigns strategically bearing in mind the ultimate goal which is a victory for the people.
“There’s no doubt the people have been classically conditioned to mundane materialism, but their ears are glued to the voices of reason by credible and tested leadership. Do not worry, these Egyptians you are seeing, you will not see them again.”
Speaking with TheCable, Dalung said he will contest the house of representatives seat on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and will obtain his expression of interest and nomination forms on Friday (today).
In April, Dalung resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying recent developments in the party are incompatible with his values.
Dalung served as minister from 2015 to 2019. He took to criticising the APC after he was not reappointed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
