Thugs invade Anambra polling centre, attempt to cart away ballot boxes
Armed thugs reportedly invaded Metu Memorial Primary school in Odoakpu area of Onitsha, Anambra State, and attempted to cart away ballot boxes.
A voter, Mr Chibuzor Ekene, told journalists the men who invaded the polling centre arrived in a tricycle.
He said: “They arrived and attempted to snatch and destroy ballot boxes. People were scared and ran away because they also attempted to snatch the phones of many voters. But the bad boys left before security arrived at the scene. Voting [even] stopped temporarily after the incident.”
Anambra State Commissioner of Police in charge of election duty, CP Aderemi Adeoye confirmed the incident, saying that police operatives confronted the thugs and forced them to abandon their mission and flee instead.
