Tinubu May Get Just 30% of Northern Votes in 2027, Says Buba Galadima’s Daughter
Zainab Galadima, daughter of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain Buba Galadima, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu could struggle to win more than 30% of northern votes in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during a recent political podcast interview with Channels TV host Seun Okinbaloye, Zainab pointed to growing frustration in the North and the rise of a unified opposition as major threats to Tinubu’s re-election chances.
“Honestly, I don’t have good reviews from northerners about Tinubu,” she said. “It’s really bad. Tinubu may get, maybe, 30 percent or less. The 2027 election will be his toughest battle yet—worse than 2023.”

She also highlighted the increasing relevance of a new opposition coalition, saying that while its structure is still taking shape, it is already causing concern in political circles. “Anybody that sees what they’re doing knows we need to sit up,” she added.
Zainab previously worked as a technical assistant on SDGs in the office of the Vice President during President Buhari’s first term.
Her father, Buba Galadima, has also endorsed the new coalition, calling it a necessary move to rescue Nigeria’s democracy. “All citizens concerned about the country’s future should support this coalition,” he said.
The coalition, which recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform, includes influential political figures like former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former minister Rotimi Amaechi, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai—all aligning for a serious showdown in 2027.
