Trump Expresses Disappointment Over Elon Musk’s Criticism of Policy Mega-Bill

US President Donald Trump voiced his disappointment Thursday after billionaire Elon Musk publicly criticized his major policy mega-bill, casting doubt on the future of their friendship.

Musk fired back on his social platform X, dismissing Trump’s claim that he had advance access to the legislation as “false.” He also shared a video of Trump attributing Musk’s anger to the loss of electric vehicle subsidies, adding a casual “Whatever.”
This clash comes shortly after Trump held a grand Oval Office farewell for Musk, who recently stepped down from his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Musk surprised reporters at the event by showing a black eye, which he humorously attributed to his son.
Trump said he understood Musk’s frustration, particularly over Trump withdrawing a nominee Musk supported to lead NASA.

The high-profile spat highlights growing tensions between the former president and one of his most influential former advisors.
