Yahaya Bello Disowns APC Chairmanship Posters in Abuja, Says Mischief Makers Are Behind Campaign
Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has distanced himself from campaign posters circulating in Abuja that suggest he is eyeing the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The posters, spotted in prominent areas of the Federal Capital Territory—especially around the city gate and near the APC national secretariat—surfaced ahead of the party’s upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled for July 24.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Mr. Ohiare Michael, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, dismissed the posters as the work of “mischief makers,” stressing that Bello has not authorised any campaign or promotional activity related to the APC leadership race.

“Nothing of such can emanate from Yahaya Bello, especially when there are laid down guidelines for the jostle for the chairmanship of the APC,” Ohiare said.
He added that this is not the first time individuals have acted without authorisation to associate Bello with political ambitions, accusing unnamed persons of attempting to mislead the public and spark needless controversy.
“No one has been authorised, either directly or indirectly, to print, much less paste any poster on behalf of former Governor Yahaya Bello,” he stated, urging the public not to fall for what he described as a “desperate bring-him-down-at-all-costs mission.”
Bello, who completed two terms as governor, has not yet declared any interest in a party leadership position following the sudden resignation of former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
